Summer Credit or Summer DisCredit

Summer’s here and this will be another boon for the credit card companies as families take off on vacation. But what some don’t realize is that the credit card companies are also gearing up for their own summer fun. They will be monitoring your accounts and ensuring you have the money with which to dig yourself another hole in.

So while you are sipping drinks on the poolside of the cruise your family is taking, think also about what your credit score may be doing while you swipe the day away.

Yeah it may be hard to hold back on the summer festivities, as there are a number of neat things to do right in your community. Maybe this should be the year you teach your children the act of volunteerism by helping to pick up trash in the city park, or distribute food to the needy or maybe even set up air condition tents for the residents getting belted by the heat wave.

Whatever you do this summer, its a wise investment to put those cards on ice and use some of the free services your tax dollars are being spent on. Really, when is the last time you visited your local museums or even the museum in larger cities that may only be a couple of hours away?

Fun begins at home and its high time we taught our children the importance of saving and the importance of togetherness and volunteerism.
